Red-Handed

Red Handed

I guess this one’s awfully similar to the last one, which I happened to finish a day or so before this event occurred. But, I didn’t want to be the only cartoonist who didn’t do something on this, and I thought the gag was funny and different enough to merit its own cartoon. As often happens, it isn’t as good as it was in my head, but at least the excessive amount of time I spent coloring seems to have paid off–all of the illustrations in this one look quite nice.

This could perhaps be considered a follow-up to the previous cartoon, sort of a part II. Or maybe it belongs in a series with my other pieces based largely around ridiculous things said by dumb political figures.

Yeah, Palin actually said that. In a speech, for which she was paid $100k, she said that. The quote actually surprised me more than the hand thing. Presumably, she meant to say “America” instead of “Alaska,” but even then, the line still makes no sense and is meaningless. She can’t even successfully construct a brainless platitude.

I recently saw a magazine cover that read “Can Sarah Palin save America?”

Moments like this make me think that unless she’s planning a massive suicide for her and her followers, no. Seriously, what do people see in this idiot?

There is a sucker born every minute, LagomorphMan.

Really, more than anything else, I’m surprised that Sarah Palin can somehow give speeches that sound like they came from some sort of random buzzword generator (seriously, I’ll bet someone could feed in things like tax cuts, “the Government that governs least…” etc. and actually program a fairly convincing generator) and get $100K for it. That’s not far off of what I make in ten years of work. God damn.

I thought it was funnier that she brought out the old “Obama needs a teleprompter” bit while she had those notes on her hand, and only a couple of weeks after the event where Obama verbally trounced 140 Republicans without any teleprompter.

Anyone who is still willing to support Sarah Palin is either severely stupid or severely deluded.

I really, really, really want them to run her for president in ’12. If she manages to survive the primaries, Obama will play “Coachman, Spare Your Horses” on the lute of her entrails.

That drawing of Palin in the last panel is solid gold.

Seeing Palin run in ’12 would be entertaining, but I suspect that Palinmania will have burned out by then. I mean, the Republicans can’t keep supporting someone that stupid for that long, right? Right? Ri-ah, who am I kidding? Palin gets the conservative masses to pay attention, and the GOP rabidly holds onto anything that helps them get more votes.

I think the best thing she ever said was she visited 57 states, with one left to go. Or that her great-uncle liberated Auschwitz. Or when she said that 500 million Americans would lose their job every month. Or when she said she like Justice Thomas because he only speaks with a negro dialect when he wants to.

Thomas is the most worthless member of the Supreme Court. There’s nothing to like about him.

As for dumb quotes, please direct your attention here and recognize that no Republican supporter has any room to criticize anyone else at this point.

I love how President Obama’s detractors always have to bring up “57 states” because they have so few examples.
