That’s a nice thought, but it will all come down to how many voters the parties can get to the polls. If the leftists and moderates get too comfortable to go vote, the GOP could very well come back. :-/

Oops! I didn’t recognize our next Supreme Court justice down there. So this cartoon is only about the confirmation hearings, not the GOP’s political future. *Now* I get it! 🙂

I see: Goku, Bruce Lee, Sailor Moon, Spike Spiegel and either Chuck Norris or The Man with No Name? Is there anybody else?

To answer the question, the specific characters in the crowd are Goku, Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Spike Spiegel, and Asuka Langley from Neon Genesis Evangelion. I don’t know why I threw the last one in, although each of the others are related to the martial-arts reference (notice that Chuck Norris is shaking his fist in anger, apparently not happy with how the match is going).

The rest of the people in the crowd are just generic figures.

…looking over this while updating my cartoons for high pixel-density displays, my favorite part of this cartoon is the guy in front of Goku—he just has SUCH an “anime character reacting in surprise to something” pose. I can almost hear him yelling “AH!!!” like a guy in an episode of Speed Racer.

…although the detail of the photographer excitedly trying to capture Limbaugh’s bulk is a close second.
