Guitarded

This cartoon was drawn a couple of weeks after Hurricane Katrina made landfall. While over a thousand people were dying, and many times that suffered and lost their homes, President Bush thought it was more important to go goof around elsewhere and play guitar with some country singer who most likely sucks.

Aides later claimed that Bush refused to even watch news coverage of the disaster.

While the byline on this cartoon attributes it to the Western Front, it wasn’t actually published there, because the event occurred before the beginning of the school year. I still was eager to draw the idea when I had it, though, and figured it may come in handy if the paper decided to run any opinion pieces about Katrina or related topics. Alas, they did not.
