Get Rid of the Seaward

Get Rid of the Seaward

I’m back. Didja miss me?

I didn’t plan to be away from the site as long as I was, and about midway between my last new cartoon and now, I had a few interesting metaphors in mind for how to characterize the miscarriage of justice that was the outcome of the George Zimmerman trial, but I got stuck on how to convey any of them visually. The increasing frustration from this lead me to withdraw into other projects, until all of a sudden, over a month had passed with no update.

This cartoon’s not terrifically above-average for me, even though the gag is clever, because it really seems to give Obama more credit than he deserves. It’s also a little dated, since Congress just started yet another long break from their usual business of doing practically nothing.

However, it does do a great job of symbolizing how the unprecedented vindictiveness of Republicans in the House and Senate against the Executive branch, lately, harms the country as a whole.

One thing I’ve learned is that, typically, when I go on these longish breaks, my drawing or gag-writing improves quite a bit within an update or two of my return. So, I’m really looking forward to the next one, and hopefully whatever audience of mine remains is, as well!
